Stunning Public Arts Project Major Showcase for Timeless Timber

A huge area of forest floor in the heart of Northumbria's Kielder Forest has been transformed by BSW Timber in one of the UK's largest timber decking projects.
A series of raised Timeless Timber-decked pathways have been laid through the forest for the Mirage Project, a stunning public art installation developed by the Kielder Partnership and leading Japanese sculptor Kisa Kawakami.
One thousand stainless steel reflective discs have been placed at different levels amongst the forest's Norway Spruces, all linked by an intricate system of wires to create a glittering mirage effect high above the forest floor.
More than 20,000 people are expected to flock to the Mirage Project every year following its official launch on October 31.
BSW Timber is using the project to showcase its Timeless Timber decking, which will allow visitors to view the Mirage throughout the forest.
Each section of timber decking has been hand-crafted, and a complex series of routes spanning 140 square metres has been designed to work with the natural pattern of the trees along the forest floor.
Bryan Crennell, Marketing Manager for BSW Timber: says “Getting involved with the Kielder Partnership provides us with an exciting and innovative opportunity to showcase our Timeless Timber decking range. We are working together with all our partners – including the Forestry Commission, one of our biggest suppliers - to leave a lasting legacy for the people of Kielder and its visitors for years to come.
"Our Timeless Timber decking looks good and feels great to walk on. Most of all it is durable enough to ensure that, years down the line and after thousands of people have walked over it, it will be as strong and beautiful as ever.
"All our Timeless Timber boards come with a 20 year guarantee - this project allows us to prove this. Anyone considering timber decking for their garden can come and view this spectacular piece of art, and realise the magnificent natural impact that it has on its immediate environment."
BSW Timber has supplied all the timber for the ambitious sculpture - including Timeless Timber deckboards, joists and posts. Timeless Timber is produced in BSW Timber’s Latvian sawmill from specially graded pine logs. After sawing, kiln drying and machining, the decking is treated with Timeless Timber Pro-Wax preservative.
